Venue Information and Reports

Overview

The following section is designed to providing the bank angler with general information, as well as fishing reports and ratings, pertinent to a number of popular urban venues located in the Greater Chicagoland area. For greater convenience, venues are classified as either being ‘north’ or ‘south’. The dividing line separating these two regions is defined as the I-88 / I-290 corridor. Additionally....

Venue ratings are categorized according to a 1 to 5 ‘angler fish’ scale (no pun intended!), with 1 angler fish being poor and 5 angler fish being classified as excellent. The table below provides a more complete description:

Rating

Description

(Excellent)

An excellent ‘non-fail’ fishery containing abundant stocks of obliging fish, well-appointed facilities, easy bank side access and comfortable fishing.

(Good)

Well worth a visit, as the fishing is typically excellent or very good. However, some on-site creature comforts such as easy access, convenient parking and / or nearby restrooms may be less than adequate or absent.

(Average)

Typically a venue that ‘runs hot and cold’ – sometimes you easily catch a basket full, other times you have to work at it a little more. Facilities and access are typically adequate.

(Fair)

Typically either a ‘hard to fish’ or an over fished venue where the remaining underwater residents have become wary of anglers’ baits and lures. Fishing is hard, but folks still manage an occasional fish.

(Poor)

You were told there were fish inhabiting this miserable puddle, but no one seems to catch any!
