Welcome to the Pan Fish Clips Page!

The following pan fish clips have been divided into three sections: Underwater, Terrestrial and Others, as well as a dedicated Links section. The Underwater section features footage shot using the JJCAC's Aqua-Vu underwater viewing system; while the Terrestrial section features footage shot from the bank, typically with a simple digital camera. The Others section details interesting pan fish related footage not suitable for inclusion in the previous two sections. In each case, some useful commentary, aimed at the bank angler wishing to understand their quarry better, is included. If you have recorded some underwater footage and would like to share it via this website, please feel free to drop Pat an e-mail detailing your footage (which may also be forwarded as an attachment).

Each video clip is included as a hyperlink. Your computer's movie player should open and play the clip when its respective picture is clicked. A good tip is to have your player in 'skin' (reduced size) mode  - then you can read the description and see the video all at once. The clip's format and size is disclosed in the description pane.

If you are having problems with the larger clip(s) not playing, right click on the picture and select 'Save Target As..' Your computer will then download the clip to your hard drive, which will allow for smoother playback. The windows media player is recommended to view the clips. It may be downloaded free of charge here:

Pan Fish - Underwater Clips

A classic demonstration of how pan fish are quickly attracted to chum. Notice how the fish just 'appear from nowhere'.
JJCAC Clip (MPEG, 4.50 MB)
A great demonstration of how even curious pan fish are turned off by a poorly presented (large hook, thick line) bait, even when jigged.
(MPEG, 5.54 MB)
Another classic example, but this time showing how it is important to match the hook size to the bait being used.
JJCAC Clip (MPEG, 3.50 MB)
An interesting clip of a very inquisitive bluegill!
(MPEG, 2.43 MB)
Our first effort at 'picture in picture' - watch how lose feed attracts fish; as well as how the float indicates a positive take.
JJCAC Clip (MPEG, 2.8 MB)
