Family Fish Frenzy, Pilcher Park, June 19th and July 9th 2004

The 'Family Fish Frenzy' is a two day kids fishing camp organized in collaboration with the good people at the Pilcher Park Nature Center, Joliet, IL. The events are geared towards teaching kids, and in some cases their parents(!), how to fish. The days' activities feature 'hands on' classroom instruction and demonstrations by members of the JJC Anglers Club, followed by group fishing expeditions to the Park's creek.  The outings proved to be very successful, with many participants catching their first, and in many cases many more, fish. The following photos were taken during both the June 19th and July 9th events:

JJCAC Advisor Patrick and President John help with the tying of rigs during the June 19th 'FFF'

JJCAC member Chris Baltas and family caught a good number of fish Sometimes you have to wait a while, but eventually you'll catch one!
Looking along the creek during the July 9th 'FFF'. As with the June event, everyone caught at least one fish! Species captured (and released) during the events included bluegill, green eared sunfish, golden shiner and one very surprised looking largemouth bass!

JJCAC President John Ocenas helps release the day's catch of ~40 fish.
A big thanks to all at the Pilcher Park Nature Center who helped make the 'Family Fish Frenzy' such a success, as well as JJCAC members John Ocenas, Crystal Larsen, Tony Schmidt, Chris Baltas and Robb Shuttleworth who assisted with the organization and running of the event.

The JJCAC will be running another kids summer camp in collaboration with the Joliet Parks District in the summer of 2005 -be sure to watch bankfisher.com for details!
